Junk King franchise at a glance
Junk King’s Item 19 reports 2025 gross sales and gross sales per job for 160 franchised businesses open all year, overall and by quartile.
Junk King reports that its 160 franchised businesses open for all of 2025 averaged $551,635 of gross sales, with a median of $449,606, according to Item 19 of Junk King’s 2026 FDD, issued 1 April 2026. The 160 in that group are 94%* of Junk King’s 171 franchised businesses. Fees paid to Junk King come to about 15.66%* of sales.
- Junk King’s top quartile of 44 businesses averaged $1,070,285 in 2025 and its bottom quartile of 32 averaged $166,455.
- A Junk King franchise costs $121,200 to $236,000 to open, including an initial franchise fee of $0.11 for each person in the territory.
- A Junk King franchise must also spend the greater of 10% of sales or $4,000 a month on local marketing from its third year.
- Junk King gross sales per job averaged $397 across the 160 businesses in 2025, with a median of $385.
- Junk King had 171 franchised businesses at the end of 2025, against 158 at the start of 2023, and no affiliate-owned businesses since 2024.
These figures come from Junk King's 2026 Franchise Disclosure Document, as the brand reported them, and were read by Averan Advisors. The 15.66% of sales in brand charges at the $551,635 average is an Averan calculation from the Item 6 rates and the Item 19 average.

The 160 franchised businesses open for all of 2025 averaged $551,635 of gross sales. The median was $449,606, which is 81.5%* of the average. The highest business billed $2,939,477 and the lowest $26,580.

Item 19 prints 78 and 37% for the businesses at or above the average in the all-businesses row. The 78 is the sum of the four quartile counts, and each of those is measured against its own quartile average. 78 of 160 would be 48.8%*, so the two printed figures do not describe the same count. This page reports both as printed.
These are revenue figures. Item 19 does not publish costs, wages or profit, and gross sales are not adjusted for cost of goods, operating expenses or fees paid to the brand.

Source: Item 19, Tables 1-A, 1-B, 1-C and 2. The row marked with an asterisk is Averan’s: $64,815 times 80, divided by 160. Added to the $519,227 hauling average it gives $551,635, the gross sales average. Gross sales per job is each business’s own average per job, then averaged across the 160.
Hauling revenue averaged $519,227, which is 94.1%* of the $551,635 gross sales average. Item 19 defines gross sales as hauling revenue plus dumpster revenue, and the figures reconcile on that basis.
80 of the 160 businesses offered dumpsters for all of 2025, and they averaged $64,815 of dumpster revenue. The median was $51,589, and dumpster revenue ran from $378 at one business to $327,491 at another.
Dumpsters are not in the Item 7 estimate. A franchisee does not have to offer dumpsters in its first three months. When it starts, it must buy at least seven dumpsters and a second vehicle able to haul them, which the brand estimates at $130,000 to $150,000 plus delivery and tax.
Gross sales per job averaged $397, with a median of $385. The highest business averaged $770 a job and the lowest $201, which is 3.83 times*. 71 of the 160 businesses, 44%, averaged $397 or more.

Source: Item 19, Tables 1-B and 1-C. Each table sorts businesses into quartiles by its own measure, so the hauling quartiles and dumpster quartiles are not the same businesses, and neither matches the gross sales quartiles exactly (the hauling quartiles hold 44, 43, 43 and 30 businesses). Several hauling figures are printed with a full stop in place of a comma (for example $299.014); they are shown here with commas.
The top hauling quartile averaged $1,003,390 and the bottom $152,097. The top hauling business billed $2,884,281 of hauling revenue, and 15 of the 44 in the top quartile reached that quartile’s average.
The top dumpster quartile averaged $139,827 and the bottom $10,673. The 22 businesses in the top dumpster quartile ran from $86,805 to $327,491 of dumpster revenue. The 19 in the bottom ran from $378 to $21,579.
Item 19 does not show how many of the 80 dumpster businesses are in each gross sales quartile. It also does not report revenue by number of trucks, by territory population or by years open.

| MAP fee (marketing, advertising and promotion fund) | 2% of gross sales; after month 18, the greater of 2% or $845 a month (may rise up to 30% a year) | $11,033* |
| Customer care center fee | 5% of gross sales, paid to an affiliate that handles calls and scheduling | $27,582* |
| Software system fee | $303.49 a month, plus optional extra accounts | $3,642* |

| Total with local marketing* | $141,551* (25.66%*) |
Source: Item 6 and its notes. Local marketing group dues (currently $400 a month, up to 3% of sales) count toward the local marketing minimum. Not included: the annual convention ($1,000 a person plus travel), the regional meeting ($99 a person), Key Account administrative fees of 2% to 20% of each Key Account invoice the brand bills, transfer, renewal and late fees. Dollar figures apply the Item 6 terms to the Item 19 average after month 24 and are Averan’s.
At the $551,635 average, the license, MAP, customer care center and software fees come to $86,387*, or 15.66%* of sales. All three percentage charges are taken on gross sales. The owner also spends the local marketing minimum, a further $55,164*.
The $2,000 license minimum is larger than 8% of sales below $300,000* a year, and the $845 MAP minimum is larger than 2% below $507,000*. At the bottom quartile average of $166,455, both minimums apply, and the four brand charges come to $46,105*, or 27.70%* of sales. At the third quartile average of $330,273 they come to 17.17%*, at the second quartile average 15.70%* and at the top quartile average 15.34%*.
The local marketing minimum of $4,000 a month is larger than 10% of sales below $480,000* a year. At the bottom quartile average, brand charges plus the local marketing minimum come to $94,105*, or 56.53%* of sales. The brand may reduce the local marketing requirement after the third anniversary of opening.
The two monthly minimums total $34,140* a year once both apply. The lowest business in the 2025 table billed $26,580. Item 19 does not say how long that business had been open, so it is not known whether the minimums applied to it.
A missed monthly report is entered as zero and charged the minimum license fee. Roll-in franchisees, who merge an existing hauling business into the franchise, pay lower license and MAP rates for set periods.

| Total | $121,200 | $236,000 |
Source: Item 7. The lines add to the printed totals. The estimate covers the period before opening and the first three months. It excludes dumpsters and the second vehicle needed for them ($130,000 to $150,000) and the $1,250 software enrollment fee in Item 5.
The initial franchise fee is $0.11 for each person in the territory. A territory typically holds 500,000 to 700,000 people, so the fee is typically $55,000 to $77,000. In 2025 franchisees paid $64,734 on average, from $46,695 to $78,980.
The vehicle line is a down payment. The required truck is an Isuzu cab with a custom 18-cubic-yard box. Bought for cash, the brand puts its price at about $96,000 to $100,000 plus delivery and tax, and a lease must be a lease to own.
The fee is reduced for some buyers. Veterans receive 15% off, first responders 10%, owners rolling in an existing business with at least $150,000 of annual sales 10% to 50%, and existing franchisees of two or more years buying another territory 5% to 20%. A buyer of an existing business pays a $3,000 training fee and a transfer fee instead of the initial fee.
Franchisees typically open within 30 days of finishing training. Training generally takes place 4 to 11 weeks after signing, and the agreement requires opening within 6 months. The territory is not exclusive. Even so, the brand will not place another Junk King franchise with rights to market in it.

Junk King had 171 franchised businesses at the end of 2025, against 158 at the start of 2023. Over the three years 33* opened, and 6* were terminated and 14* ceased for other reasons.
11 businesses ceased for other reasons in 2025: 7 in California, 2 in New York and 2 in Utah. California went from 27 businesses to 20 during the year. Item 20 counts sales to an existing franchisee in this column, so these are not all closures.
Transfers to new owners were 13 in 2023, 31 in 2024 and 29 in 2025. The 29 in 2025 included 7 in Illinois and 4 each in Arizona and Louisiana.
