What a second franchise territory adds, in 2026 FDD figures

Updated 16 October 2026

A multi-unit owner runs more than one location or territory under one brand. Six 2026 Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs) on this page report sales by territory, by owner, or both. The FDD is the document a franchisor gives a buyer before a sale. This page sets those splits side by side and works each one through with the brand's own figures.

Sales per territory by owner size

BrandOne territoryTwo territoriesThree territoriesFour or more
1-800 WATER DAMAGE$512,051$312,375$377,274 (three or more)
Soccer Shots$222,830$279,445$340,540$238,096

A territory inside a two-territory 1-800 WATER DAMAGE business sells $312,375, which is 61% of the $512,051 a single-territory owner sells. Soccer Shots runs the other way up to three territories. A Soccer Shots territory sells $340,540 when its owner holds three, then $238,096 when the owner holds four or more.

Worked example: 1-800 WATER DAMAGE
A two-territory 1-800 WATER DAMAGE owner sells 2 times $312,375, or $624,750 in total. A single-territory owner sells $512,051. The second territory adds $112,699 of sales, which is 22% more, on twice the ground.

Per owner against per territory

BrandFranchisees reportingTerritoriesTerritories per ownerAverage sales per territory
Benjamin Franklin Plumbing863734.3$656,635
Mister Sparky601853.1$1,227,530

A Benjamin Franklin Plumbing franchisee averages $2,847,962 in sales across 4.3 territories. Divided by territory, that is $656,635 each. When a brand reports per owner, divide by the owner's territory count before you compare it with a single location.

Worked example: Mister Sparky
Mister Sparky's 60 reporting franchisees hold 185 territories, or 3.1 each. At $1,227,530 per territory, the average Mister Sparky owner runs about $3.78 million of sales across those 3.1 territories. A buyer looking at one Mister Sparky territory plans around the $1,227,530 figure.

Adding territories in one year

The Tailored Closet's 2026 FDD follows the same 13 mid-range multi-territory franchisees across 2025. Those 13 owners went from 38 territories to 47. Their revenue rose 3.33%, and revenue for each territory fell 16.46%.

Worked example: The Tailored Closet
Going from 38 territories to 47 adds 9 territories, a rise of 23.7%. Revenue for the same 13 owners rose 3.33% over the year. Territory count grew about seven times faster than revenue, so revenue for each territory fell 16.46%.

Fees that apply to every territory

Some brands charge a minimum royalty or minimum advertising spend on each territory. At PremierGarage, a multi-territory franchisee pays the minimum on every territory held. A second territory that is still building sales carries its own minimum from the date it is added.

Worked example: PremierGarage
PremierGarage charges 5% royalty or $12,000 a year for each territory, whichever is greater, plus a brand fund minimum of $3,000 a year for each territory. The median multi-territory PremierGarage owner holds 3.8 territories averaging $181,851 each, so the minimum applies to every one of them. That owner pays 9.29% of revenue in fees against a 6% headline rate.

What a second territory costs to buy

A second territory carries its own fee. Some brands charge less for a territory bought at the same time as the first. The fee for the second territory sits in Item 5 of the FDD, beside the initial franchise fee.

Worked example: PremierGarage
PremierGarage charges a $19,950 franchise fee and a $55,000 fee for the first territory. A second territory costs $45,000 if bought at the same time and $55,000 if bought later. Two territories bought together cost $119,950 in fees to the brand, before any equipment. The median multi-territory PremierGarage owner's territories average $181,851 in sales each.

Four figures before adding a location

  • Sales per territory at your current locations, against your brand's FDD median.
  • Months of wages and rent in cash after the opening budget is spent.
  • Minimum fees on the new territory for its first two years.
  • Sales per territory for owners of your size, where your brand's FDD reports them.
Worked example: Soccer Shots
A Soccer Shots owner with three territories sells $340,540 in each, or $1,021,620 in total. A Soccer Shots owner with four or more territories sells $238,096 in each, which is $102,444 less for each territory than at three.

What this means for an owner

A second territory does not repeat the first territory's sales. At 1-800 WATER DAMAGE, it adds 22% to total sales. At Soccer Shots, sales for each territory rise up to three territories and fall at four. Brands that report per owner need dividing by territory count before comparison. Minimum fees apply to each territory from the day it is added, and at PremierGarage they lift the median multi-territory owner's fee load from 6% to 9.29%. An owner checks the per-territory split in the brand's FDD before adding a location.

Check one location

The Franchise Numbers Check is a free tool on this site. It takes one location's figures and sets them against the brand data Averan has published.

If you want this done for you

What happens next

Reading about it and having it done are different things. Here is exactly what happens if you want the second one.

  1. The call takes thirty minutesYou describe the business and where the numbers are letting you down. We give you an expert view of your situation, and what we would start with. There is no pitch deck.
  2. We look at the fileYou give us read access to the books as they are. We come back with what is wrong, what it will take to fix, and whether the answer is bookkeeping, controller work, or something else.
  3. We send a written scope and a priceIt lists what we do each month, what you get, the date it lands and the fee. We agree it before anything starts, and it does not change unless you agree.
  4. We take over the books and close the first monthWe set up access and systems and enter the opening balances. The first close lands on the date in the scope, and every one after it does too.
