What a month looks like

Transactions in all month Reconciled every account Adjustments accruals, prepaids Closed on an agreed date ONE MONTH

The same sequence every month, which is the point. A close you can predict is a close you can plan around.

  1. Transactions in

Bank, card, loan, and merchant activity captured and categorized against a chart of accounts built for how your business actually earns — not the default one the software created.

  2. Everything reconciled

Every account reconciled to statement, including the ones most books quietly skip: loans, credit lines, merchant clearing, and payroll liabilities.

  3. Adjustments booked

Accruals, prepaids, and deferrals recorded so the month reflects what actually happened in it, rather than what happened to clear the bank.

  4. Closed and delivered

The period is closed and locked, and the statements come to you on the date we agreed.

If you also want the close owned…

Clean books tell you what happened. When you want to know what it means — your margins, what's coming, what to do next — that's where controller work comes in.

What it costs, and how that is decided

Pricing is scoped to the work rather than billed by the hour, and quoted after we have looked at the file. Three things move it: transaction volume, how many accounts and entities are in play, and the state of the records when we start.

Historical cleanup, where it is needed, is quoted separately as one-time work rather than folded into a monthly fee. That keeps the ongoing number honest and lets you see what you are paying for.

Frequently asked

Do we keep our own software and subscription?

Yes. It stays your file and your subscription. If we stop working together you keep everything, including the structure we built.

Can you work with our existing bookkeeper?

Often. Some clients keep an internal person for day-to-day entry and bring us in above them at the controller level. Others have us do both.

What if the books are behind?

Then it starts with catch-up or cleanup, scoped and quoted separately. Ongoing bookkeeping on a broken file just produces broken reports faster.

Do you file our taxes?

No. Averan is not a CPA firm. We keep the books in the condition your CPA needs and work alongside them.

How much of our time does this take?

An hour or two in the first month for access and questions, then very little. The list of things we need from you shrinks as we learn the business.

Want the books off your plate?

A short call. We will tell you honestly whether we can help.
