Upgrading from QuickBooks Online to Intuit Enterprise Suite

By Scott Engler · Averan Advisors · Updated 3 October 2026

Intuit upgrades a QuickBooks Online company to Intuit Enterprise Suite in place. Intuit says there is no downtime and the data is ready when you log back in. The screens and settings stay the same, and the new tools appear alongside them.

What stays the same

  • Your transactions, customers, vendors and chart of accounts.
  • The navigation and settings your team already uses.
  • Bank feeds and the apps connected to the company.

What you set up after the upgrade

A customer success manager walks you through setup. Intuit's Professional Services team helps if you want to change the structure of the business in IES. These are the items most companies set up in the first month.

  • Each legal entity as its own company inside the one login.
  • The rules for transactions between your companies, so IES records both sides.
  • The dimensions you report on, such as location, department or project.
  • Consolidated reports that add the companies together.
  • Approval steps for bills and payments.

The situations IES was built for

  • You pay for a separate QuickBooks Online subscription for each related company.
  • Someone combines those companies in a spreadsheet each month to get one set of numbers.
  • Loans and charges between your companies are entered twice, once in each company.
  • You need more than the 25 users QuickBooks Online Advanced allows.
  • You track profit by location or project with classes and locations and have run out of room.

The cost difference

QuickBooks Online Advanced is $340 a month, or $4,080 a year, for one company at the August 2026 list price. ERP Research estimated IES at about $7,800 to $8,000 a year for one entity and $12,000 to $15,000 or more a year for several. Intuit gives up to 60% off the IES list price when a ProAdvisor accountant sets up the subscription.

Common questions

Will my team need to learn a new system?

Intuit says IES uses the same interface as QuickBooks Online, so the navigation and settings stay the same.

Is there downtime during the upgrade?

Intuit says there is none. The data is ready when you log back in.

Can I move several QuickBooks Online companies into one IES account?

Yes. IES holds several entities in one login. Intuit's Professional Services team can help change the structure during setup.
