Intuit Enterprise Suite vs QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise
By Scott Engler · Averan Advisors · Updated 3 October 2026
QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is the Desktop edition Intuit still sells to new customers. It installs on a Windows computer or a hosted server and keeps each company in its own file. Intuit Enterprise Suite runs in a browser and keeps several companies in one login.

What only one of them has
Desktop Enterprise has the inventory tools that IES lacks. IES holds several companies in one login and adds them together with the intercompany amounts removed. A distributor that tracks serial numbers in one company uses tools that only Desktop Enterprise has. An owner with five companies and no inventory uses tools that only IES has.
Moving from Desktop Enterprise to IES
Intuit includes the migration for QuickBooks Desktop customers and values it at $9,000. The Desktop to IES guide covers the three data options and the checks before and after.
