The software still opens on Desktop 2023 and older versions. You can enter transactions and run reports. Everything that connects to Intuit stops.

  • Payroll tax calculations and payroll tax forms stop updating.
  • Bank feeds stop downloading transactions.
  • Card payments through QuickBooks Desktop Payments stop.
  • Intuit's live support ends for that version.
  • Security updates stop.

Clean the file before any move

Every migration tool copies the Desktop file as it is. An unreconciled bank account, a pile of undeposited funds or an old balance in accounts receivable arrives in the new system unchanged. Reconcile every account through the last full month and fix the chart of accounts first. Then the new system starts from balances that match the bank.
