Free Consult →What this tool does
Start with cash on hand, then lay in collections, payroll, materials, subcontractors and fixed costs week by week for thirteen weeks. The forecast returns each week's closing balance and flags the week it goes negative.
How to read the result
- Field services cash is a collection problem, not a sales problem. Map money by the week it lands, not the week you invoice.
- Payroll runs weekly or fortnightly while customers pay in thirty to sixty days. That gap is the whole forecast.
- Material buys for a large job belong in the week of purchase, and retainage belongs in the week it is actually released.
- Update weekly with actuals. Two months of corrections will show you whether you are systematically optimistic on collections.
Questions we get asked
How far out can a trades business forecast?
Thirteen weeks with confidence if the backlog is known. Past that, it becomes a budget.
What if collections are unpredictable?
Forecast them by customer type. Residential collects at the job, commercial collects on terms, and insurance work collects when it decides to.
Where does retainage go?
Out of the forecast until the release date is real. Treating held funds as available cash is how a profitable contractor runs out of money.

What happens next
Reading about it and having it done are different things. Here is exactly what happens if you want the second one.
- The call takes thirty minutesYou describe the business and where the numbers are letting you down. We give you an expert view of your situation, and what we would start with. There is no pitch deck.
- We look at the fileYou give us read access to the books as they are. We come back with what is wrong, what it will take to fix, and whether the answer is bookkeeping, controller work, or something else.
- We send a written scope and a priceIt lists what we do each month, what you get, the date it lands and the fee. We agree it before anything starts, and it does not change unless you agree.
- We take over the books and close the first monthWe set up access and systems and enter the opening balances. The first close lands on the date in the scope, and every one after it does too.
